Mr. Edmond Mallet

Dear Friend

We were all very sorry to hear that you had gone
out of the Indian service; for we believe that
you did do some thing for us. I have
been trying to go home all this time,
but Mr. Backus says that I can't go until
next summer; so I don't suppose there is
any use of me trying any more; yes Mr.
Mallet, I do want a place at the salary of $20. if
you can get it. but if not I will be glad to
get one at $15. I believe I will like the
town or agency what ever it is for I have
heard so much about it; and i have some
friends down there to. Do you think I
could get it by next summer or Fall?
I don't think I can be ready before spring
any way, because I didn't know that I
had to stay was why I wrote to you for a
place; but I hope I can go as soon as school
closes, at least I will try to. my little sister
Lucy is here at school yet. but sister Mary
has gone home. Mrs. Backus wishes to
be remembered to you. she knew your
writing when I got your letter.
I will close now with regards and best
wishes of your friend, Fanny A. Rouse.
Lucy will write to you soon.
We are all well at present and wish you
the same.
